As the Director of Deacon Formation, Deacon Roger has experience working in a parish and diocesan environment. He brings that experience and knowledge in working with Aspirants and deacon candidates in discerning if they have been called to the Order of Deacon. As a married man he understand concerns a spouse may have with her husband becoming a deacon. Deacon Roger was ordained a Permanent Deacon for Diocese of Rapid City, SD on September 8, 1984. He has served parishes at St. Francis of Assisi in Sturgis, SD; Saints Peter and Paul in Pierre, SD and is currently at St. Lambert’s Parish in Sioux Falls, SD. Heidt has a Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministry from Mount Marty University in Yankton, SD. He began formation work for the Diocese of Sioux Falls in 2004 and began working full time for the diocese in September 2007 as the Director of Planning and Director of Deacon Formation. He was employed for 24 years as a Health Care Administrator.
